An international star with a global message, Layla Kardan marries her smoky soulful voice with pop, jazz, Middle Eastern and R&B rhythms and melodies for an evocative and achingly poignant sound.
With her music she aims to empower women around the globe having already escaped her musical cultural shackles. Kardan has received raving reviews from the likes of Harper’s Bazaar, Mojeh, Savoir Flair, and Emirates Woman magazine who honored Kardan as Emirates Woman Artist of the Year 2017.
Along with performing at GQ Middle East, Esquire Middle East and Harper’s Bazaar Arabia events, Layla Kardan has also performed at intimate brand events such Tory Burch’s SS19 dinner party, the Louis Vuitton Time Capsule launch event, Chopard Classic Rally Dubai, Womena launch of Womedia, Repossi, and Arwa Al Banawi’s AW17 Fashion Forward runway show.
The artist has also worked on campaigns with Louis Vuitton for Les Parfums, YSL Beauty for Tatouage Couture Metallic and NARS’s Climax Mascara. A philanthropist at heart, Kardan also worked with UNICEF MENA for ‘Break Their Fast’ Campaign in support of refugee children in the region during Ramadan.

Influenced in particular by classic and contemporary artists, from Sade to Erykah Badu. Her sound draws similarities between household names such as Lorde and Jorja Smith, whilst retaining the timeless class of pioneers like Nina Simone.
Layla Kardan was born in Belgium but is now an Australian national living and working in the United Arab Emirates. With Iranian roots, it’s easy to see how flavors from across the world have come together to influence the sound and style of her songs. Her desire to write songs and perform is at odds with Middle Eastern convention yet still remains determined to reflect her cultural upbringing in her music.
Kardan hopes her journey will offer insight in a provocative yet subtle way to the Western community about the wrong stereotypes of submissive Middle Eastern women. Kardan’s determined approach to stand up against judgment and convention is both raw and honest, with her lyrics also aiming to inspire other women to pursue their dreams no matter what apparent obstacles are placed in front of them.
Kardan’s assertive fashion-strong image is combined with her engagingly down-to-earth personality and universal message to appeal to audiences regardless of tastes, trends or ethnicity. Representing ethnic euphoria on a global stage through her melodic riffs and rhythmic beats, Layla Kardan captivates her audience with true flair.
Layla Kardan’s latest album ‘Saved’ is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify and Anghami.
